Sesame Place
We took the kids to Sesame Place in PA for the day a couple of weeks ago. It was a huge hit with Emily. We did rides and shows and then a little bit of the water park part of it. It wasn't a super warm day, but Emily loved it all. She especially loved the parade and meeting Zoe, but we didn't get a picture of that. Meeting each of the characters was like meeting her heroes, it was really cute.

1st Year of Nursery School
Emily's First Day of School in September
Emily's Last Day of School in June
Emily finished up her first year of school at the beginning of June. My how she's grown! She loved her first year of school and loves to "play" nursery school. She pretends to do circle time, sings the songs, and loves to do projects just like they do in school. She'll be going to a new school next year since we're moving, but I'm sure she'll like that one just as much.

Emily Fun
Family Time
A typical weekend morning in our bed, Emily with a bunch of books and a few stuffed animals, Nick sleeping or stretching. Emily was "reading" to Nick in this picture.
Nick sleeping on the floor of Emily's room. I tutor during Emily's bedtime a couple of evenings a week. Depending on how long I'm gone and who is watching the kids, Nick sometimes comes with me. Since Greg was home, Nick was home. Greg was putting Emily to bed and had given Nick some tummy time on the floor with a monkey (baby Cleo) for him to look at. Nick moved around a bit, half rolled over and fell asleep on the monkey. It was too cute, he had to get a picture.

3 Months Old Today!
The Shrinking Monkey...

I think this picture (above) makes Nick look like he has a pretty good tummy, but it seems to be more the camera angle and how he's sitting, because it looks big to me

Nicholas is 3 months old today! He has grown so much in the past 3 months. At birth, he was 6 pounds 3 ounces. At his 2 month check up he was 11 pounds 1 ounce. I took him to a breastfeeding store and weighed him this past week (fully clothed and diapered) and he was 12 pounds 11 ounces. So he is a growing boy. He was 18 inches long at birth and at his 2 month check up was 22.75 inches. His pediatrician says both his height and weight at 2 months were 25th to 50th percentile, so he is nice and consistent for those. He has filled out so nicely and now has some rolls of baby fat on his legs. We are doing a combination of cloth and disposable diapers. He's in small size cloth (started with a few in XS) and has just moved to size 2 disposables this past week. 1's possibly would still work, but since we don't go through them so quickly, I bought 2's last time. He is still wearing 0-3 month clothes (the yellow giraffe romper is one of the smaller 0-3's he has). I think he is getting close to being ready for 3-6 so I'm starting to get everything washed and assembled in his room for him.
Nick has started showing a lot more interest in his activity gym and bouncy seat with lights and music recently. He loves to watch Emily run around and Emily has taken a new interest in him and likes to give him a kiss before bed and asks about him more now when he isn't around (napping). Nick is very alert and watches everything around him with very wide eyes. He has started to adjust his sleeping and is doing better at night, but I'm still up a couple of times with him. We are still working on lengthening his naps. He doesn't seem to be quite developmentally ready for a longer nap yet, so he still takes a lot of short cat naps. According to my favorite sleep "bible" the naps should start consolidating in months 3-4 so we're hoping that happens.
Nick has been a relatively fussy baby. It's tough to compare his fussiness to Emily's because the circumstances have been different. If he can be held all of the time then he is relatively happy (most of the time). I didn't have to put Emily down as a young baby, but Nick often needs to be set down because Emily needs my help with something. His fussiness is definitely improving, so I'm hoping that the next month brings more improvement.
Overall, we've had a great and busy first 3 months with Nick. He's a sweetie and definitely a cuddler. He'll move homes before he hits 4 months, but hopefully shortly after that we can fully get into a nice daytime routine with him.

House Hunting Trip
Emily climbed on the luggage cart in our room. Silly girl, it wasn't for her! She loved pushing her doll stroller down to breakfast each morning.
The kids came with us for our house hunting trip. It wasn't all that exciting for Emily, we didn't do a whole lot besides look at a ton of houses. We did find a couple that we were pretty excited about and the following week looked again and made an offer on one of them. We're excited about the house and the new area that we'll be moving to.
These pictures don't really have a thing to do with house hunting, except that they were taken while we were gone! These were about a month ago.
Like Mother, Like Daughter, Like Bear
Emily, Annie the Bear, and I all have matching shirts! It's hard to tell in the picture, but all of the shirts have the same eyelet-sort of design on them. And they are all pink. Shortly after Nick was born I went shopping for a few shirts to take me from the in between post-partum phase of clothes until I'm back in my regular stuff (I'm almost there). Emily has always said that my shirt matches her bear. One morning, Emily picked that shirt out of her closet. It was one of the first warmer days that she could wear short sleeves. She was very excited when she realized that she would match her bear. Then when I went to get dressed, she saw my matching shirt and insisted on me wearing it as well. When Emily went to school that day, her bear went with her as show and tell.
As a side note, doesn't Emily just look so grown up in some of the pictures these days??? I can't get over how big she's getting!
Happy Mother's Day 2009
For Mother's Day, Emily's nursery school class did a Mother's Day concert that was super cute. I video taped it and Emily loves watching it. At home, Emily and Nick, with the help of Daddy, gave me a new GPS for the car. I had asked for one since we are moving to help learn our way around the backroads of PA. Otherwise, we had a quiet day and took care of a lot of stuff to get our house on the market later that week.
